The University of Gothenburg and COVID-19

The University of Gothenburg is working to slow the spread of COVID-19 infections. This does not mean that the University has closed. On the contrary, it is open, but has temporarily switched to remote studies and remote work. Teaching, research, cooperation and administration will continue to the extent possible.

The temporary transition to remote studies and remote work affects access to the University’s various service functions. Service centers are available as usual by e-mail and phone, but only Servicecenter Vasa is open for visitors. The University Library has strengthened its remote service, but has closed study environments and limited its opening hours. Study counselling is available as usual via telephone and e-mail, or via digital meetings. For students and staff, access to certain premises is limited, see information in the Student Portal and the Staff Portal.

New policy decision for Autumn semester 2020

A new policy decision was taken by the Vice-Chancellor on 11 May. In order to reduce the spread of COVID-19 infections, the University of Gothenburg is preparing for continued remote studies during the autumn semester of 2020. As a general rule, studies at the University of Gothenburg will be carried out remotely at least until 31 October 2020.
