  • Completely new antibiotic resistance gene has spread unnoticed to several pathogens

    [27 Mar 2020] Aminoglycoside antibiotics are critically important for treating several types of infections with multi-resistant bacteria. A completely new resistance gene, which is likely to counteract the newest aminoglycoside-drug plazomycin, was recently discovered by scientists at the University of Gothenburg.

  • Type 2 diabetes more common in men with early puberty

    [24 Mar 2020] Type 2 diabetes is more common in men whose puberty took place early, a University of Gothenburg study shows. An association may also be seen between low age of puberty and an elevated risk of the disease, if it develops, requiring insulin treatment.

  • New findings boost understanding of arterial aneurysm

    [16 Mar 2020] Abdominal arterial (or aortic) aneurysm in older men is associated with levels of certain subtypes of white blood cells, a study from the University of Gothenburg shows. The study results belong to an expanding research field that is expected improve both knowledge of the disease and treatment options.
